A Short Note on DNA Paternity Testing
In order to verify the identity of a child’s father a DNA paternity test is required. The test involves looking at the DNA of the supposed father with that associated with the child. DNA is something that drives a living being and in this case inherited from the parents by the child. It is a genetic code which can now be deciphered or read using modern techniques. A woman who has had more than one sexual partner at the time of conception needs to be undergo this test to identify or distinguish which male partner has been the reason for the woman to conceive. There are also cases where DNA paternity test has to be undertaken just to force a father for accepting the natural responsibility of the child which he would be refusing to take up.
Though DNA paternity test involves completely objective aspects as samples that would be tested, the result however has more effect on the emotional balance of individuals who are involved in the reason for the test. The child for one is the most important individual who would be affected emotionally and then the woman and the man. It is therefore very important that prior to carrying out the DNA paternity test all these individuals be counseled about the possible outcome of the result and its impact upon them all.
The method or the test has progressed with time and now there is no requirement of a blood sample but a simple swab of the inner cheeks is sufficient to conduct the test on. The sample given for the test has to be same from all the related individuals. That is if it is the swab sample, then the father, mother and the child should all submit their swab sample only.
The test is known to have a 99 percent hit possibility. This is a very high rate given the complexity of the entire genetic makeup of a human being.
